The Bush Crime Ring

Before returning to the notion of selective prosecution by the Bush Justice Department, just had to share this piece from Joseph. L. Galloway, military columnist for McClatchy Newspapers.

Galloway compares the Bush administration to a crime ring, a poorly run crime ring at that. And he weighs in on the disgraceful performance of the Bush Justice Department.

Galloway hardly could be called a left winger. He is co-author of the best-seller We Were Soldiers Once . . . and Young. He notes that he voted for Bush in 2000. But this column is one of the most scathing indictments I've seen of the Bush White House.

By the way, McClatchy Newspapers seems to be an excellent source of information on the U.S. Attorneys scandal. Here is a link to their Web site on the subject.

Have you read Kevin Phillips' book, American Dynasty about the Bush family? Bush fingers have been in a lot of pies in the last 100 years or so.

Here is a neat attempt to diagram the relationships from the book.

Yes, Kevin Phillips is one of my favorite writers. Thanks for the diagram.

You are probably familiar with Phillips' "The Politics of Rich and Poor." That book had more than anything to do with me becoming a Democrat. I wish every American would read it.

Phillips' work is so powerful because he used to be a Republican insider, and he is credited with developing the GOP's Southern Strategy that has proved so fruitful over the past 40 years.
Believe Phillips now describes himself as an independent, but Republicans tend to hate him because he has pulled the mask off the Reagan "trickle-down economics" gambit.

Have you read "American Theocracy?" Think that is Phillips's latest, and I'm looking forward to reading it.
