Stewart Springer, who apparently works from his home at 3005 Lake Park Circle in north Shelby County, has worked in several areas of law, but now is focusing on personal injury. At his Web site, Springer touts his willingness to take tough cases to trial, even taking a shot or two at his legal colleagues. (Not surprisingly, I like that.):
The numbers demonstrate that very few lawyers are willing to try cases, and when they do, they are not effective. Contrary to the statistics, Stewart Springer has twenty six years of experience effectively trying cases. Springer has proven to be highly successful inside and outside the courtroom. Outside the courtroom Springer has settled cases in the millions and has represented all types of people including those from his working class background to doctors, lawyers and even judges. Springer has been successful in the courtroom with juries.
Having hauled in a personal injury verdict for a former state senator of $500,000, obtaining a ‘not guilty’ verdict on three felony counts for a Birmingham police officer, and obtaining a verdict in favor of a lawyer and law firm accused of sexual harassment, battery and assault. Springer will try cases and take insurance companies to the courthouse in response to low settlement offers or gamesmanship, even risking a total loss as opposed to settling for less than the fair value.
Springer is "highly successful" outside the courtroom? Does that include his interactions with potential mistresses on the Ashley Madison Web site? Records made public from last summer's hack of the AM Web site suggest the answer might be yes.
That's unfortunate because his biography page indicates he has every reason to enjoy a healthy and satisfying home life. His wife, Allison, is a dental hygienist and owner of a small business. He has three children. From his bio:
Stewart Springer was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama in the '60s so he knows Alabama and how people here live and think. He is married to a dental hygienist and sole owner of a small business. He often says the single best decision he ever made in life was marrying his wife Allison. He has three children Russell, Julia and Caroline.
Springer attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1982 and obtained his degree in three and a half years graduating in 1985 with a B.S. degree in Public Relations with a minor in Political Science. While at the University of Alabama, Springer was elected to be a member of the Freshman Forum a very distinguished group of forty freshman students that advised the University. He was appointed to the City of Tuscaloosa Mayor’s Advisory Council serving Mayor Al Dupont a former war hero he greatly admired. Springer was elected by his fellow students to serve as the President of the School of Communication. He was a member of the founding chapter of a national social organization.
Springer praises his parents for setting him on the road to personal success:
Springer graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. Stewart is most thankful to his parents Dot Springer and Clarence Springer for creating the opportunity for him to become a lawyer through their love, dedication, hard work, sweat and tears, and struggle to send him to an premier law school. Stewart has said “I am happy about becoming a lawyer but I am most proud of my parents for doing so much for me that allowed me such an opportunity. I will never forget what they have done for me when I represent people who need my help”
Stewart Springer seems like the guy who pretty much has it all. So why screw around on Ashley Madison? We twice contacted Springer, seeking comment for this post. He responded to our second query with this comment: "Your story is completely false and defamatory."

Any comments on Rule 23(b)(3).I mean really ,this lawsuit is mainly Fraud and Identity Theft. The class will have to be notified someway. Why not thru the mail.
Can't wait to see all the hysteria from the whiners on this one. Keep up the great reporting, Schnauzer. Someone once said, "A journalist should comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable." That's exactly what you are doing. These are two-faced phonies, who deserve to be revealed. Your reporting speaks volumes about our upper-class "professionals."
You say you contacted Stewart Springer twice. What was the first communication like, and how did he respond? Was the second communication different?
My first query was in late October. I informed Mr. Springer who I was, that I published a blog on justice issues, and noted that his name appears on the paying Ashley Madison list. I invited him to comment or help me set up a time for an interview, and he did not respond.
The second query was a few days ago and included a draft of the post, again inviting him to comment or be interviewed. He responded with the comment at the end of the story.
Why does he spell Birmingham-Bermingham- on his website.
If Mr. Springer isn't interested in Mrs. Springer, I certainly would be glad to offer my services.
So...serious question. If we assume that private bad decisions bleed over in to "bad for the taxpayer" decisions (which is the basis for the "newsworthiness" of these stories---per you), then what does that say about Bernie Sanders (an avowed pot smoker when it was very illegal) and Hillary Clinton (who has admitted she should not have set up sensitive national security issues with emails on her private server)? I'm serious, LS, if you take the angle on AM, ALL of us could be implicated and be considered "dangerous" to taxpayers. How would you respond? Are you not voting for either Bernie or Hillary? How can you overlook their blunders (with much more serious consequences) and not these private individuals?
@ 12:12 Unless you shop at Kroger, you are on the short list.
I hope you out a particular Spfld MO attorney who I think is on there. He's been a predator for decades.
are you going to out the Spfld Mo attorney who I think is on there? He's been a predator for decades. First hand knowledge.
How would I respond, @12:32? I would respond with this: Weren't the Bernie Sanders/pot story and the Hillary Clinton/e-mail stories reported in the press? Their potential mishaps were reported in the press, and the public can decide what to make of it. Same principle applies with the AM story. Folks can read about Edgar Gentle or Stewart Springer or whoever and decide for themselves what to make of it. Some might say, "I wouldn't want those guys for my lawyers." Others might say, "This doesn't bother me. If they are good lawyers, I'll take 'em."
You, apparently, would have the AM stories essentially censored, encouraging reporters to ignore it. But you, in my view, would be wrong. Someone once said, "The best response to information is more information." (Or words to that effect.) I agree.
That's why those who refer to my reporting as "shaming" are so far off base. Did those who reported on Sanders and Clinton engage in shaming? Of course not. Neither am I. It's called reporting; I've been involved in it for 35-plus years.
I have numerous Springfield attorneys on the Missouri list and will be reporting on that. Don't know if your predator is on there, but it's a possibility. If you would like to share background info, please contact me at rshuler3156@gmail.com. I would be glad to look into it.

The court system in Alabama is no different than pro wrestling. All the matches are fixed. The crocked ass lawyers have a hold they call the pretzel. It is almost impossible to escape the hold, but there is a way. While they have you wrapped in the pretzel, look over your right shoulder. You will see two hairy balls hanging there.Bite them as hard as you can and you will be surprised what you can do ,when you bite your own balls.
Persecutory delusions are a set of delusional conditions in which the affected person believes they are being persecuted. Specifically, they have been defined as containing two central elements:[1]
The individual thinks that harm is occurring, or is going to occur.
The individual thinks that the perceived persecutor has the intention to cause harm.
According to the DSM-IV-TR, persecutory delusions are the most common form of delusions in paranoid schizophrenia, where the person believes "he or she is being tormented, followed, tricked, spied on, or ridiculed."[2] They are also often seen in schizoaffective disorder and, as recognized by DSM-IV-TR, constitute the cardinal feature of the persecutory subtype of delusional disorder, by far the most common. Delusions of persecution may also appear in manic and mixed episodes of bipolar disorder and in severe depressive episodes with psychotic features, particularly when associated with bipolar disorder.
I had an old College buddie of mine that my wife, Linda and I had in common. We hadn't seen him and his wife in some time, and I had heard that he was having wife problems. I had a solution for him, if he was daring enough to try. "Doug, may I introduce the ladies? " I asked. "Of course," he said. "Linda, this is Julie. She married Doug, my old College roomate about 3 years ago. Julie, this is my old College sweet- heart, Linda." "Old. OLD!" she said as she swatted me on my shoulder. We all chucked a bit. "Julie, Would you mind doing us a BIG favor? I forgot to run to the store before comming here to pick up a bottle of wine. It's our favorite from back in school, and since you know the stores here, you could get it probably faster than I could. "No, I don't mind at all. I'll be back in about, say, a half hour." "Thanks, Julie, I said as I reached out to give her some money. "No, no, you keep your money. This'll be on us tonight." said Doug. I noticed that Julie shot hin a look as she walked out the door. Doug saw that I noticed. "We have some disagreements about money every now and then. Nothing too serious." "What about sex?" I asked. He looked at Linda. "I really don't want to talk about this in front of Linda," he said. I put my hand on his shoulder to reassure him. "Doug, I want you to know something very important, and now is the time to tell you since Julie is away for a while. You see, Linda is very submiissive. In fact, she has beem my slave for some time now." "Your what?!" he said in amazement. "It's true," she said submissively. "How did this happen?" asked Doug? "I hypnotized her." "You know I have never been hypnotized before," she said. "Linda, show Doug your breasts now," I said.
Who is this fucking ape in Jasper your wife was fucking, Roger?
Sorry about the awful pretzel joke. I had just read the threat the coward made, concerning your wife, in the Feb. 29 post.I lost my cool. Looks like he might have exposed his identity.
I don't know, @9:16. You or someone like you was supposed to call Carol last night and discuss it. She was deeply disappointed that the call never arrived. But it's no surprise that you, or someone like you, can't be trusted to keep his word. Maybe you are too big a coward to confront someone face to face (or voice to voice) with your bogus story.
The similar message was on the following post, which is several days old. Not sure why it was placed there:
http://legalschnauzer.blogspot.com/2016/02/spotlights-oscar-win-inspires-but-its.html
What do make of his identity, @6:39?
@6:39 here. Did she get the phone call? The man had an indian accent?
Nope, no phone call.
There is a person commenting on the Feb29 article, using a combination of words, that a trial lawyer would use. There are threats being made on the Feb 29 and Mar 9 articles on the same day.On the Feb 29 article at 3:49, the threat maker posts a comment. One minute later at 3:50,a comment is posted,(nikkifaulk) that can only be connected to the Mar 9 article. Short version; The threats toward you are related to the Stewart Springer article. Some one did not get back on the right article when they posted at 3:50.
Hmmm . . . interesting. Do you think the threats are coming from Springer himself, or someone connected to him?
By threats, are you referring mainly to the stuff about my wife, a guy in Jasper, etc.? That's all a crock, of course, but someone seems to have a vivid imagination.
I've found it odd that these comments, for the most part, have been on fairly old posts, especially the one about "Spotlight" winning academy award.
Funny thing . . . I first heard of Stewart Springer probably 8-9 years ago because of his involvement in lawsuits against individuals in the hunting club corruption in Jeffco divorce court. Never met him or talked to him, but did reach out to him twice for comment on the AM story.
What ticked me off was the comment at 5:59 about your wife suffering collateral damage.
Stewart Springer doesn't live in Jasper you asshole.
The big-dicked ape in Jasper has hairy balls, Roger. He doesn't shave them like you do. Kno w what a cuckold is? It's a left wing journalist who can't control his slut wife. He turns her out on Thursday nights to pay the rent at the Motel 6. They call it Motel 6 because that how many guys she blows to pay for the room.
Your wife is a slut, Roger.
She SUCKS big CO
What a classy guy you are. Also a coward, afraid to call either Carol or me. I've said we are more than happy to discuss with you and provided contact info in multiple places.
Of course, a lying, coward does have the (excuse the expression) "balls" to call us.
There is a big-dicked hairy ape loose in Jasper? Shouldn't someone call the zoo? Does he have big hands? I'll check with Marco Rubio.
Roger, I'm the coward? I'm laughing at you.
I am happy to tell Alabama and the World that your wife will open her legs for anyone with a $5 bill and you cannot bring yourself to defend her. The only reason you want me to call you and explain what that thug in Jasper is up to is so you can tape me calling your cunt wife a whore. I won't give you the satisfaction, you sex-obsessed troglodyte.
Everything you touch turns to shit, Roger. Your job, your house, even your fucking dog. Everyone in town knows you;re fucking crazy. How do you think this story ends, Roger? You go from dozens to millions, my friend. Looks like Google isn;'t any help, either.
I don't care what you laugh at. If you want a real good laugh, go into a bathroom and watch yourself take a leak.
Carol doesn't need defending from a sicko, coward such as yourself.
Divorced Dec 21,1999
The trial court stated that it had never heard of so many therapists being involved in four people's lives.
Move on Roger.
Why are you approving these comments calling your wife these terrible names? Can you please delete them.
Carol doesn't mind them, @10:11, because she knows these claims are bogus, and the names are just a sign of how desperate and perverse some people are. We've been dealing with these kinds of people for 16 years, so I guess we are a bit numb to it. If Carol wants me to delete them, I will. But for now, I think they serve the purpose of showing how hysterical some people are about my reporting on certain subjects, and Carol agrees.
Who, @7:33, got divorced on Dec. 21, 1999.
Its a bit low to put a picture of his kid up there. A respectable journalist would never have done that.
Stewart Springer touts his children, his wife, and his family life on his own business Web site. He uses them to help attract clients. He made it part of the story.
Springer v. Damrich
Care to elaborate on Springer v. Damrich?
Some of you people lob comments at Roger as if they were hand grenades.Roger pulls the pin and lobs them back.
Only what is posted at 7:33 Draw your own conclusions on some of the comments.
some one is either having a bad day or mental health problems. comments regarding a blogger's spouse is so not cool. If A. is so unhappy with the content of this blog perhaps they could stop reading it. Their comments add nothing to the conversation.
people who hold themselves out in public as "family" people and then act in a contrary manner are "fair" game so to speak, when they stray from the theme. Did they think participating in a website such as A.M. would remain 'confidental' for all time? If they did they were certainly delusional. there never has been a secret if more than one person knew.
Why some one would be part of their spouses advertising is beyond me. She nor the child would induce me to use his legal services. its more like he is advertising the wife and child. Not smart. Not good judgement and that in the end is what this is all about, bad judgement.
His wife and child did nothing wrong. You are a real sleaze bag for putting the picture in. In all honesty, you were a giant piece of shit well before that. You should work for TMZ. Assholes should stick together.
The greatest irony here is that it is quite easy to find Roger Shuler's Ashley Madison profile. And because he has an Ashley Madison account, Mr. Shuler must be seeking an affair, to apply his own logic.
Now I know Mr. Shuler will do his usual thing: demand solid proof, then dismiss it, then ask for my home address, and then deny he ever signed up, changing his story as he goes along. Roger is great at rationalizing his baseless personal attacks, especially when he becomes confused about who within the various conspiracies against him is actually pulling the strings.
Ball's in your court, Roger.
e.a.f. I don't know if you recognize how contradictory your statement is. "comments regarding a blogger's spouse is so not cool"? Roger just linked a man's family to unprovable charges that he's an adulterer. That is "not cool." Most of what Roger writes is "not cool".
e.a.f. you are one of the many people on the Internet who think that the hint of a lapse in judgement deserves unrelenting public shaming. You're the kind of person who tracks down someone who mistakenly parks in the handicap spot and tries to "interview" them on the street, publishing their name and address and where they work.
You and Roger belong together. You are both judgmental hypocrites and cyber bullies. Please stop.
You are playing a little fast and loose with the facts, @9:11. I never said Stewart Springer is an adulterer. I said his name appears on the list of paying customers of Ashley Madison, and that is absolutely true.
Just one man's opinion, but your tasteless and baseless proclamations about e.a.f., about whom you know nothing, is totally "not cool."
K:
A commenter here has taken credit for setting up a bogus Roger Shuler account, which probably amounts to identify theft, defamation, fraud, and other legal issues. The person who set up that false account is going to wish he hadn't.
I think you left some stuff on the table in your reporting on Stewart Springer: Springer was disciplined by the Alabama bar in 2009 for violating ethics rules.
Lawyer discipline is easily available public information; you could have easily found it. You need to up your game, I think.
As the headline suggests, @11:24, this post (along with others in the series) has a narrow focus--about Stewart Springer's appearance as a paying Ashley Madison customer. It's not designed as a complete overview of his legal career.
It sounds as if you've seen the discipline information. If so, you are welcome to send a copy to me, and I would be glad to consider it for a possible followup post. Do you know the date of the disciplinary action against him?
Roger, can you please provide some documentary evidence that these people are in the stolen Ashley Madison data? I assume you possess this data?
@11:52--
I've reported that I have the legit data and I planned to report on it, which I'm doing. The documentary evidence is in the form of a massive file that even professional tech experts (which I am not) struggle to deal with it. I can't reproduce that here. At one point, one or two Web sites ran the entire Alabama list (I believe with no context, analysis, or reporting), but I'm not sure those links are still out there. You might try a Google search or a check on the Way Back Machine (Internet Archive) to see if you can find it.
Reporting on this subject is a major journalistic and technical undertaking. The posts of recent days are the results of probably six months of research on my part, with assistance from technical people who I consider both knowledgeable and trustworthy.
Roger, I have seen the profile in question and have screenshots of it. I have no reason to believe you did not create it with the objective of cheating on your wife.
As I expected, you have trotted out the specters of "identify theft, defamation, fraud, and other legal issues". At least the individuals you have claimed to be members have not made these same hollow threats.
K is for Klueless, it appears.
Actually, certain individuals have made such threats.
You make an interesting statement here: "I have no reason to believe you did not create it with the objective of cheating on your wife."
You are asking me and our readers to buy into your credibility. Therefore, we need to know who you are. Contact me at rshuler3156@gmail.com (I guess you used that to set up the bogus account?) or (205) 381-5673.
Until we know who you are, your credibility is sub-zero.
And I will state once again, I've never visited the AM site, much less set up an account there.
Roger,
Springer was disciplined in October 2009. He violated rules 8.4(d) and 8.4(g) of the Alabama rules of professional conduct.
From the Alabama Lawyer:
"In or about July and August 2006, during an incumbent judge’s re-election campaign, Springer was a guest on a radio talk show. Springer used the talk show as a forum in which he made disparaging comment about the incumbent judicial candidate. Springer also distributed fliers at the courthouse which were highly critical of the judicial candidate. Springer's comments attacked the judicial candidate's qualifications and integrity. These statements undermined the public perception of the court, and therefore were prejudicial to the administration of justice. Springer’s actions also adversely reflected on his fitness to practice law."
[ASB No. 06-128(A)."
Can you ID the incumbent judicial candidate? I bet I can guess.
as I understand it, Mr. L.S. only used the photo the lawyer had put out in public to begin with.
I do not believe in hounding people for parking in handicap spaces. Might write a letter to the editor reminding everyone they need to respect handicapped spots, but really, that is all.
There is a great deal of difference between what I was referring to as "not cool" and what this blog is doing. The blog isn't hounding anyone. it is simply writing about something which is already in the public domain. there is nothing negative being said about the families of those who "played" at A.M.
This is really no different than going to a bar and having the local paper report on who was at the bar that night. if the newspaper writes, Ms. Z was at the bar and is the spouse of Mr. Z, then that is still part of the reporting process. In some cases that is actually important. It is not uncommon for reporters to write where someone is employed, where they live, and who their family members are.
I do believe the point in all of this was, there were many who were passing them selves off as law and order, family values, religious people types. They were using a persona they created to gain something. The persona was false. When you get involved in "false" advertising it usually comes back to bite you in the but.
If the Internet needed an enema, Mr. Shuler, I'd stick the nozzle right into your blog.
If the Internet needed an enema, Mr. Shuler, I'd stick the nozzle right into your blog.
You know, this line wasn't very clever the first time you used it, @11:43, and it hasn't gotten any better. I guess you aren't smart enough to come up with something else. Maybe you're the one who needs an enema. Could you be so constipated that your brain has locked up?
In some cases, people do have “open” relationships. In other words, they have an agreement with their spouse that they can play around, and thus they weren’t necessarily cheating.
This is not as rare as you might think, and it’s even been somewhat traditional in some other cultures outside of America. Even if they may have an open relationship, the forcible data disclosure is harmful to these couples; they don’t necessarily want their private life arrangements made public.
