Griffin McGahey, vice president of strategic initiatives at High Cotton USA, has an unusual twist to his unsavory online activities. His wife, Jennifer J. McGahey, is a partner at Bradley Arant, Alabama's largest law firm.
High Cotton, with its headquarters in Irondale, has a fairly low profile in the Birmingham area. It appears to be a family business, led by CEO Tommy McGahey. Is the CEO Griffin McGahey's father. The answer is not clear from published reports, but they certainly appear to be related.
What is High Cotton's business profile? This is from the company's Web site:
“From the day we started this company more than 50 years ago, one thing has been constant,” Tommy McGahey, CEO of High Cotton says. “Our customers succeed because of our attention to detail.”
High Cotton has changed over the years, of course. “We began as a traditional direct mail house, helping clients fulfill bulk mail at the absolute lowest cost,” McGahey says. “But we’ve evolved. Today, we are a data driven company, helping companies primarily in the banking and healthcare industries with payment technology and customer communications.” Each of these industries is marked by incredible complexity with literally millions of details to get right.
“Speed, security, competitive pricing — these are all aspects of our business that our clients count on,” McGahey says. “But in the end, it’s our focus on the details that determines our clients’ success.”
At Bradley Arant, Jennifer McGahey focuses on commercial litigation and labor and employment issues. From her bio on the firm's Web site:
[Jennifer} represents clients in a variety of industries, such as e-commerce, natural resources, government contract, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and retail, and her clients range from large publicly-traded companies to small family-owned businesses. Jennifer has litigated cases ranging from a single plaintiff to class action to the federal government. Jennifer handles cases across the country and is currently national counsel representing a provider of online travel services in more than 40 lawsuits and administrative proceedings throughout the United States.
The McGaheys live on Euclid Ave in Mountain Brook, in a house valued at almost $700,000. The remodeling of the McGaheys' home was featured in 2014 at styleblueprint.com. From the article, titled "Dull to Dazzling: A House Transformed":

Why would Griffin McGahey, after engaging in all the time and effort (and money) it took to build a comfortable family space, put it all at risk by fooling around on Ashley Madison? We sought the answer to that question, and others, but McGahey did not respond to our queries. Jennifer McGahey also did not respond to our questions.

This is juicy. Downtown Lady Lawyer has biz man hubby working the Web to cheat on her. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteNot shedding a tear for Lady Lawyer. She makes her nice living by trying to screw over people who already have been screwed over at work. Shame on her.
ReplyDeleteTo-do list:
ReplyDelete1. Get married to nice looking Lady Lawyer
2. Have two kids
3. Spend gazillions remodeling house in Mountain Brook
4. Start looking for p---y on the side
Seems like Mr. McGahey got things a little out of order here.
You always seem to take grief for your Ashley Madison posts, Mr. Schnauzer, but I think they serve a real public service. They show that a lot of men who seem to have it all are too stupid to realize they should be thankful.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that Trump cheated on Melania while she was pregnant. Is this kind of stupidity spreading?
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the Donald did the nasty with Karen McDougal, a former Playboy Playmate, while Melanie was preggers. Here's the whole story:

If Lady Lawyer spent less time trying to screw over workers, maybe Biz Hubby might not spend so much time trying to get into some other lady's britches.

Hope Mr. McGahey had a high-powered heating installed during the snazzy remodeled. Sounds like things are going to be a bit frosty this time.
ReplyDeleteGot to give credit to the KC lawyer who responded after he had been caught. These other dudes are rats and cowards.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I found this website. Why is this guy's name on a website any of your business?
ReplyDeleteIt's not a matter of whether it's my business, it's whether it's your business and the business of the public. Mr. McGahey is a high-level executive at a company that sells its services to the public. His wife is partner at a law firm that does its business in taxpayer-funded courts. It's the public's business, and I write a blog about public corruption and misconduct -- so that makes it my business.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, 11:50 a.m. it is every one's business. this person deals with the public and they put some trust in him. By listing with A.M. he has displayed very poor judgement. Now would you want to hire a person with very bad judgement to assist you with your affairs. I for one would not, so I'd like to know what the people I do business with are up to. I like to hire people who have good judgement. there is also the small issue of 'cheating'. If a person will cheat on their spouse, what else will they cheat on? People have the right to know, if people have careers that other people rely on. if the guy was working as a dog walker I'd want to know if he was trustworth and have good judgement.
ReplyDeletee.a.f - By that logic, before you hire a dog-walker or any person providing a service, you should research public records to see whether they've been divorced, and if so, whether it was due to them cheating on their spouse. In that case you actually know they cheated (vs. with AM you do not - sorry, but "intent" does not mean "actually did it"). You should also do a regular background check on them to see if they've been to jail, etc. Do you do that with every single person you do business with? If so, then cool. You're being consistent in your convictions, and that's fine. But if not, your statement seems hypocritical.
ReplyDeleteits e.a.f. here, again. Now A. 11:42 a.m., dog walkers in British Columbia, Canada are screened. People in urban areas have more dogs than kids and there are doggy hotels, doggie day cares, etc. In one case a popular dog walker took 8 dogs, put them in her truck after their walks, left the truck in the sun, all dogs died and she dumped them in a ditch. The uproar was as if it had been done to 8 humans and yes she went to jail. The issue, bad judgement. It pays to look at the people you employ, date, hang out with. Bad judgement shows up frequently in small things, but as it goes unchecked it can cause people to wind up in a very bad situation. Had more people looked at their prospective spouses through the lens of good/bad judgement we might have fewer divorces.
ReplyDeleteWhen hiring a lawyer or some one to deal with your money the person you hire needs to have very good judgment or you could loose it all and we've seen a lot of that around North America. You can have friends who have bad judgement but it isn't wise to let them into your home too often or let them get too close. You could lose a lot.
Its why some job descriptions have a line on must display good judgement. We all know politicians who just don't have it starting with the American president.
I'm giving you a nice, long, slow clap for the victim blaming. You've sunk to a new low. FYI - being blind sided by a spouse's affair is no way a reflection on professional judgment or capability.
ReplyDeleteYou might interrupt your long, slow clap to see if there is any "victim blaming" in this post. There isn't. You might also check if there is any statement that says her spouse's activity on Ashley Madison (it doesn't say he had an affair) is a reflection on her professional judgment or capability. There isn't.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you are too busy slow clapping to actually grasp what the post says.
