Erik Davis Harp, ex gambling kingpin and Jessica Garrison business partner, gets pretrial intervention on gun charge, while adding reckless driving to resume

Erik Davis Harp
Erik Davis Harp, a former gambling kingpin and business associate of Alabama GOP operative Jessica Medeiros Garrison, has been placed in a one-year pretrial intervention (PTI) resulting from a concealed weapon charge in Bay County, Florida, according to court documents. In a separate incident, Harp was charged with reckless driving in a case that apparently involved road rage on the part of one, or both, drivers.

Harp reportedly has ties to the Gambino and Genovese crime families, and yet, Jessica Garrison and her ex-husband, Tuscaloosa school board chairman Lee Garrison, saw no problems engaging in a business relationship with him. Given Jessica Garrison's ties to Luther Strange, Jeff Sessions, and Bill Pryor, how high might Erik Harp's influence go in Alabama politics? Could those ties to Pryor, a judge on the U.S. Eleventh Circuit and likely Donald Trump nominee for U.S. Supreme Court, help Harp receive softball treatment on criminal matters in Florida?

Records in the weapon case show that Harp carried a gun and ammunition into a courthouse? How does one do that "accidentally"? How many people could do that and get off with barely a slap on the wrist?

The PTI was entered on September 28, 2016, and it requires Harp to perform 100 hours of community service and forfeit the seized firearm, plus he is to pay $700 in fees and fines. (Documents related to the gun case are embedded at the end of this post.)

The reckless driving incident happened on July 27, 2016. Harp was driving a 2016 GMC Yukon, owned by a company called Cani Investments. Harp admitted to cutting off a vehicle driven by Jackie Shannon Davis (a 32-year-old male); after some aggressive driving and abrupt braking, apparently by both parties, Harp wound up hitting Davis' vehicle from the rear.

Davis had a 25-year-old female passenger, Ashley Allen, in his vehicle. Harp had a 3-year-old male passenger, Marcellina Harp, in his vehicle.

Both drivers were charged with reckless driving, and the case was dismissed on "no information," meaning the drivers gave conflicting reports, and law-enforcement did not have enough reliable information to bring charges against either. (Documents from the reckless driving case are embedded at the end of this post.)

  1. Harp had a three year old child with him in the vehicle? How about a child endangerment charge? Oh, well guess kids don't count in Florida.

Must be nice to get off so lightly carrying a gun into a Court House. Of course with some Republicans wanting to loosen gun laws even further, perhaps this is the wave of the future. We saw how well carrying a gun in an airport worked out. Next time it will be interesting to see how guns and Court Houses works out.

Perhaps Garrison did a little "leg work" to ensure Harp had a 'soft landing'.

Laws are most peculiar in the U.S.A. civil matters get you tossed in jail and criminal matters get you "house arrest". Wonder if that "gift" will be extended to the million in jail for minor offenses?

  3. Are you aware that Jessica has deleted her Facebook and Twitter accounts? Made both go away last week at same time. Apparently deleted every bit of her social media presence

Right before the Sessions confirmation hearings.

  5. Erik Harp gets away with stuff because he's just so damned handsome.

  6. @1:42 -- Thanks for tipping us to an interesting story re: Jessica M.G. Her Facebook and Twitter accounts seem to have vanished. Just a guess on my part, but this might confirm that she is looking for some kind of position with Team Trump, riding the coat tails of Jeff Sessions and Bill Pryor. As we noted in a recent report, her social-media accounts included evidence that she was a JeB Bush supporter over Donald Trump.

  7. No way a normal person walks into a courthouse with concealed gun and ammunition and gets PTI. It's absurd. Harp is an operative for somebody.

  8. Curious as to how jessica had the 'power' to get Harp off the hook in Florida

  9. @5:26 --

If you are addressing that to me, I didn't say she did have such power. She does have documented ties to Jeff Sessions, Bill Pryor, Luther Strange, and Paul Bryant Jr. Could any of those folks pull strings on Harp's behalf? I suspect they could. Why would they? That's the big question, and I don't have the answer at the moment.

Seems odd to me that a guy carries a gun and ammo into a courthouse and gets off with PTI. Also odd that he gets into what appears to be a road-rage incident, and gets off on that, too.

Hell, I've received way stiffer punishment than that for writing a blog.

  12. I think Jessica pulled down her social media to avoid embarrassment for Jeff Sessions and annointed successor Luther Strange.

In any event, there was SOMETHNG bad in there or she wouldn't have deleted all of it.
