Chace Swatek and his sister, Barret Swatek |
Investigators at the scene saw evidence that Alabama attorney Chace Swatek died from the effects of inhalant abuse, a source tells Legal Schnauzer.
The abuse of inhalants, known in street lingo as "huffing," involves the sniffing of volatile vapors for their intoxicating effects. Chemical vapors that are inhaled for recreational purposes can be found in more than 1,000 common household products.
Swatek came from a family with strong ties to Republican Party politics and a history of unethical behavior in the legal profession. His father, William E. Swatek, has a 30-year history of ethical violations with the Alabama State Bar. His older brother, Dax Swatek, is a well-known Republican Party consultant with ties to Bill Canary and Karl Rove--and a history of threatening actions toward political foes. His sister, Barret Swatek, is an actress perhaps best known for a minor role in The 40 Year Old Virgin.
Chace Swatek was 35 years old when his body was found on February 15 behind a stack of metal pipes across from a Shell station at the intersection of Shelby County 35 and 52 in Pelham. Law-enforcement officials quickly ruled out foul play but said they will not know the cause of death until a toxicology report is completed--and that is expected to take six months to a year.
According to Pelham Police Cpt. Larry Palmer, Swatek was in the midst of a two-mile, round-trip walk from a house he was renting in the Mallard Pointe subdivision to a CVS Pharmacy when he apparently collapsed behind the pipes near the Shelby County Services Building.
Investigators found a CVS bag, containing several items and a receipt, near the body. Palmer said he could not identify the items that Swatek purchased because the investigation is ongoing.
A source close to the Pelham Police Department tells Legal Schnauzer that officers on the scene found evidence that suggests Swatek died from the effects of huffing.
Cardiac arrest is a common cause of death in cases of inhalant abuse. From a report by the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC):
Death from inhalant abuse can occur after a single use or after prolonged use. Sudden sniffing death (SSD) may result within minutes of inhalant abuse from irregular heart rhythm leading to heart failure. Other causes of death include asphyxiation, aspiration, or suffocation. A user who is suffering from impaired judgment may also experience fatal injuries from motor vehicle accidents or sudden falls.
According to the NDIC, inhalants come in four groups:
* Volatile solvents--gasoline, nail polish, paint thinner, glue;
* Aerosols--spray paint, deodorant, hair products;
* Gases--butane, propane, nitrous oxide, ether; and
* Nitrites--amyl nitrite, butyl nitrite, and similar chemicals that are used mainly to enhance sexual experiences, rather than to produce euphoria.
In the months leading to Swatek's death, the Pelham Police Department received a number of calls about odd behavior in and around Swatek's office building, our source says. Palmer denied that the department had received such calls, but did so without checking records.
I contacted Swatek's mother, Lana Daniel Swatek, to give her an opportunity to comment on this story. She denied that huffing had anything to do with her son's death and warned me to be "very careful" in reporting on the subject.
The Bush Administration set the record for the number of poly addicts. It is very easy to see the path of this addiction cycle now destroying America.
ReplyDeleteAfghanistan was the first country invaded regardless of what the Iraq dictate was to go bomb for WMDs "there."
AFGHANISTAN DRUGS are reportedly the most powerful on the planet, just as the Soviets and other super powers that lost that war "there," already also discovered.
"... Ali Shalal is a professor of theology. He is a tremendous source of inspiration ...."
When American policy can commit atrocities after the absurdities of word armies that are nothing more than the greatest of deceptions, there are only two words for the behavior: criminally insane.

"... It is important to understand that what Ali Shalah experienced was part of a routine process of torture, applied systematically to those arrested. Many of his companions in Abu Ghraib died as a result of torture or were executed upon their release so that they would not reveal the gruesome horrors and atrocities committed on the orders of the Bush administration.
Also of significance, as confirmed by his testimony, was the fact that Israeli "civilians" were involved in assisting the US prison interrogators.
Ali Shalal survived and provided testimony in the name of all those who were tortured to death.
On May 12, 2012, the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal rendered a historical judgment.
On the charge of Crime of Torture and War Crimes, the tribunal finds the accused persons former U.S. President George W. Bush and his associates namely Richard Cheney, former U.S. Vice President, Donald Rumsfeld, former Defence Secretary, Alberto Gonzales, then Counsel to President Bush, David Addington, then General Counsel to the Vice-President, William Haynes II, then General Counsel to Secretary of Defence, Jay Bybee, then Assistant Attorney General, and John Choon Yoo, former Deputy Assistant Attorney-General guilty as charged and convicted as war criminals for Torture and Cruel, Inhumane and Degrading Treatment of the Complainant War Crime Victims ...."
In the State of Oregon the Chief Justice Ann L. Aiken had one of her sons commit suicide with the assisted suicide kit that was first approved by the Legislature and then disapproved upon her son and his suicide.
ReplyDeleteThe State of Oregon decided GREEN Agenda 21, to be THE policy (a UN Agenda) for the coo coo people that are attracted to the State for the "right to die," and other such belief systems that are NOT about life as a journey experience in discovering more abundantly life.
JAY BYBEE was used as the Ninth Circuit "JUDGE" in foreclosing on my home in Portland, Oregon, and while he was indicted for war crimes. Now the foreclosure stuck regardless of his indictment and now that he is acquitted with the Bush Administration's FAUX GWOT, America gets the Ninth Circuit "JUDGE" for our decision making about "life" and abundantly? Oh but of course, so many bones to bury and paint the souls captured on the ceilings of "temples" in Israel. Israel First, in other words, and herein lies the rub of how addictions can be a very powerful tool for the goy U.S. to behave in the coming next 100 to 200 years. Just ask the Chinese and the Russians and now obviously drug addict nation, U.S.

Speaking of attorneys with substance abuse problems, what was the disposition of attorney, Wendy Brooks Crew DUI charge in Mountain Brook? Anyone know?
ReplyDeleteThis truly is a sad story. If you think of it..Probably had everything in life he wanted given to him by his parents. The best education and was a nice looking young person, had his own business.. And can you just explain HOW someone with his intelligence and background.. never mind how some of his family members are viewed he had to be smart to pass law school and had the entire world at his fingertips to do whatever and HUFFING? It does not make a damn bit of sense to me. Why ANYONE in their right mind want to be high. I can not even stand the way you feel when you are borderline with alcohol. Much less high on drugs? I never will understand! It truly is a sad story and I can only imagine his parents are totally torn up because of this. Just sad for everyone. Maybe they could use this bad situation and turn it in something good. Letting others know about this and the dangers. I just feel so sad. I do not know the family nor have I ever been anywhere near them. If I had I would not known it. x
ReplyDeleteLawyers' families have their fair share of substance abuse problems. Shelby County attorney, Jim Pino, has experienced this issue in his family. His wife, Liz Pino, after being in drug rehab on several occasions, finally had her nursing license revoked.
ReplyDeleteI'd have just smoked a blunt instead.

ReplyDeleteI heard that Ms. Crew had a DUI charge in Mountain Brook, but I am not sure how the case turned out. I also have heard that she is a major player in the hunting club scenario with divorce lawyers in Jefferson County.

ReplyDeleteIt is sad. Chace Swatek went to Briarwood High School, SMU for undergrad and Pepperdine for law school. All private, "Christian," and expensive. Imagine how much money was spent on his education. You might read a few of my posts about Bill Swatek and try to imagine what it would be like to have such a person as a father. Imagine your mother having low enough self esteem to marry someone like Bill Swatek. No wonder the young man had problems. Living in such an environment, where your father has absolutely no ethics or morals and routinely cheats others, must eat at your soul. I've read that Chace Swatek actually was quite a likable guy and maybe even had a functioning conscience. If that's the case, his family environment is probably what killed him. If Bill and Lana Swatek want to know why their son is dead at age 35, they should try looking in the mirror. They basically forced him to live in an environment that is morally abusive. They have no regard for the rights or feelings of others, and I suspect Chace knew that, and he turned to drugs as a way to escape. Dax and Barret probably have survived because they don't give a shit about anything or anybody--the Swatek way. Chace was different, and it ate him up.

ReplyDeleteI feel certain the Pino and Swatek families know each other. They are part of the same corrupt Shelby County legal gravy train. My theory is that Chace Swatek might have had a functioning conscience, and being in a corrupt family ate at his soul. I wonder if that could be the case with Ms. Pino. Perhaps she knows her husband and son make a living from abusing others, and it's too much for her. I'm familiar with one domestic-relations case where Jim Pino essentially hired himself out as a whore to a man with a whole lot of money and proceeded to abuse the opposing party, a woman. It must be pretty sickening for a wife to see that kind of thing. That will be 5 cents for my dime-store psychology.
Cheap thrills! What a way to go!
ReplyDeleteI would have denied that huffing had anything to do with his death too.
Your obsession with the Swatek family is horrific. These poor people lost a child that was dearly loved. Wouldn't your efforts be better spent on a cause like Haiti or volunteering at the ASPCA?

ReplyDeleteComments like yours are always curious. You state that I'm "obsessed" with the Swatek story, and yet you come here to get your fix of Chace Swatek news. Is the pot calling the kettle black?
You also seem to have forgotten that Mr. Swatek's death happened in a public place. If you are involved in an event that takes place in public--car wreck, robbery, shooting, unexpected death--it's a news story. Public resources are used to handle such cases, so it is news.
The Chace Swatek death is no different from the Major Bashinsky story. One body was found in a golf-course pond, the other was found by the side of a busy roadway.
Did you object to coverage of the Bashinsky story? I didn't think so.
Anonymous should pull his head out of where ever it is stuck. Forget the comments of LS and read news repots of statements of the police shortly after Chace Swatek was found that they sucpect no foul play. How can say that with out any investigation or autopsy report as a basis for saying what they did. This is exactly what happened in the Bashinsky case. The police in both cases are: 1) Inept, 2)Lazy, ) Covering up something or somebody.
