The key standards with the elite...Good points, Rob. The key standards with the elites in this state is a willingness to bend and/or break rules. It really doesn't have much to do with intelligence or resume building. In my 19 years at UAB, I repeatedly saw that the folks who rose to management levels were the ones who were willing to play the game--either bend rules or turn a blind eye for those who did. I wasn't willing to do that, so I was never part of the "in crowd," and when I started writing this blog and telling the truth about larger problems with the AL legal community, I got canned for reasons that UAB's own employee relations director admitted were bogus.

Alabama is filled with underhanded people--and I suspect our state is not alone. We have a huge ethics void in the country, from one coast to another, and the Obama Admin has done nothing to fill it.

I wanted to puke when I saw that Eric Holder was in town to speak at Fred Shuttlesworth's memorial. Holder is a weanie and had no business being anywhere near a service to honor a genuine hero like Fred Shuttlesworth.

Also was nauseating to see a worm like Doug Jones, from Haskell Slaughter, speak at the Shuttlesworth service--and corporate elites at Alabama Power and Regions Bank took out big ads in the paper to "honor" Shuttlesworth.

Those corporate types are doing everything in their power to undo what Fred Shuttlesworth stood for.

Shuttlesworth truly put his life on the line to stand up for justice. People like Holder and Jones and the APCO/Regions crowd are cowards who stand up for nothing except what will ine their own pockets.legalschnauzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619089628125964154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3669412675139526125.post-77549754884056775222011-10-28T12:06:12.673-05:002011-10-28T12:06:12.673-05:00Good job Roger. No amount of education & experience is ever enough to meet their standards.

A local businessman told me that I "spend too much time on the computer." He remarked that I was "wasting my time in Alabama" & needed to "join the military to find some direction in life." I responded that I already did that. Served nine years, received numerous awards & was promoted to NCO before a career ending knee injury. Then, he suggested that I "move away & attend a good college." Once again, been there, done that - associates degree, bachelor's degree & Juris Doctor.

You have a better resume than any of the guys working for the Birmingham News & I have a better resume than most of the folks working at any of these Mickey Mouse law firms which are threatening to sue us all of the time. My question is how many degrees & years of experience do you really need to meet their standards?Robby Scott Hillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08625575128616865817noreply@blogger.com
