Plus, what I've written is all true, so I imagine the president and his staff can handle reality. In truth, I doubt anyone at the White House has read posts you mentioned. The readers generally seem to do a search on a certain political/legal topic and focus on that. I didn't say anyone there reads LS every day, although they certainly would be welcome to do so.legalschnauzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619089628125964154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3669412675139526125.post-57451556906957150092016-08-08T19:43:44.168-05:002016-08-08T19:43:44.168-05:00Good point, @5:25. Sewell's support, if I remember correctly, has been along the lines of "He would be the first black man from Alabama to serve on the 11th Circuit, and that would be wonderful, etc." In other words, in her eyes, it's about skin color, not competence -- and that's just the thing that has turned off so many middle class voters about Democrats. I agree that we need black judges -- we need black individuals in all professions. But competence important, especially in the judiciary. Abdul Kallon probably was not among the top 50-75 lawyers at Bradley Arant. He might not have been in the top 100. And the Obama admin had no business looking at Bradley Arant for a nominee. It's a hideously corrupt firm run by, and for, white elites. As I recall, a black lawyer from Wiggins Childs also was a candidate at the time; think his name was Rusty Johnson, or something like that. But Artur Davis wanted Kallon. I feel certain Johnson would have been a way better choice. He at least had a background of working for civil rights. At BABC, Kallon worked against civil rights.legalschnauzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619089628125964154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3669412675139526125.post-72912922745452024142016-08-08T17:25:35.441-05:002016-08-08T17:25:35.441-05:00Per documents he gave the Senate, Kallon was promo...Per documents he gave the Senate, Kallon was promoted for this nomination by Congresswoman Terri Sewell.
