As I recall, the ethics investigation was behind closed doors and seemed to happen in more or less real time. Don't think it's clear who testified and who did not. Also, not sure if document requests were part of the process. Would welcome insights from others who might know more than I do.legalschnauzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619089628125964154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3669412675139526125.post-35814652588160617312017-04-10T13:07:33.420-05:002017-04-10T13:07:33.420-05:00It's not clear to me how much Bentley and his ...It's not clear to me how much Bentley and his cronies cooperated with the Alabama Ethics Commission. They turned over hardly any e-mails, texts, phone records, financial info (re: Mason), etc. A provision of any deal should be that the admin turn over all documents from the investigation, and all those who declined to be interviewed under oath, should be required to sit for interviews under oath.

All of this missing material could mean crimes were committed and covered up. Those documents belong to the public, and these individuals were supposed to be working for the public. The docs, and the information people have, should be revealed, as part of any deal.

If info isn't produced, the deal should be rescinded. We must make sure the Bentley Gang doesn't benefit from its efforts to cover up.legalschnauzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619089628125964154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3669412675139526125.post-1965939288196166222017-04-10T11:17:24.821-05:002017-04-10T11:17:24.821-05:00@11:12 --

The early version of the story said law enforcement officials were involved in negotiations. That suggests, to me, that Bentley is trying to reach a deal where he will avoid prosecution.

I have no problem with a deal regarding impeachment. But a deal regarding prosecution . . . well, I'm not sure that's possible, and it certainly would be questionable ethically -- when you consider that Bentley Admin. turned over a fraction of material requested by impeachment investigators.

legalschnauzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619089628125964154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3669412675139526125.post-4149147929267065052017-04-10T11:12:25.755-05:002017-04-10T11:12:25.755-05:00Schnauzer, what do you think of reports that Bentl...Schnauzer, what do you think of reports that Bentley is negotiating his resignation?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3669412675139526125.post-32753609002992499982017-04-10T11:05:43.097-05:002017-04-10T11:05:43.097-05:00Bentley has no clue how stupid he sounds to normal...Bentley has no clue how stupid he sounds to normal, human ears. In a report, "Shocking Allegations" of "Witness Intimidation". You know a thing or two about that, don't you. Maybe this will cause others to revisit your case. The public needs to know the whole story on the how's and the why's that ended up with you in jail. I guess we should think of ourselves as lucky that reporters like yourself didn't die trying to uncover this story. Give yourself and your wife a high five today for being brave in your reporting. You were reporting years ago on what the other news reportors are just now reporting. Take care, and repeat, I told you so, I told you so, I told you so:-))) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
