The executive director of the Alabama Road Builders Association (ALRBA) appears as a paying customer at the Ashley Madison extramarital-affairs Web site.

Tom Layfield became head of ARBA in 2013, after serving as vice president of governmental affairs for the Alabama Bankers Association. Layfield clearly is strongly aligned with the corporate and political worlds in Alabama. From his bio at the ARBA Web site:

Tom Layfield, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Alabama Bankers Association, was named Executive Director of the Alabama Road Builders Association in August 2013, succeeding Billy Norrell.

“Bringing Tom into the road building family presents a tremendous opportunity for ARBA,” said 2013 ARBA President, Craig Fleming. “I would like to thank Chris Newell (Search Committee Chairman) and the rest of the committee for their tireless efforts during this transition. The committee came to a unanimous decision on this important choice. We had a strong list of candidates expressing interest in this position and are honored by their participation. In the end, Tom is the candidate who best fit our needs.”

 “It is a real thrill to be named Executive Director of the Alabama Road Builders Association,” said Layfield. “I will do my best to serve the needs of the membership as Billy always did. It is an honor to join such an elite organization – one that is so well thought of throughout all of Alabama. I am greatly appreciative of the board for this opportunity and look forward to hitting the ground running.”

Layfield has more than 15 years of association management and governmental affairs experience. He and his wife Lauren live in Montgomery.

Lauren Layfield works at Sandra Nickel Realtors in Montgomery.  From her bio at the company's Web page:

If you are looking to buy high-end Montgomery area real estate or that perfect first home, contact Lauren Layfield. She is conscientious, respectful, smart, straightforward and a competitive buyer specialist.

Lauren, and her husband, Tom – who is executive director of the Alabama Road Builders Association, both were graduated from Auburn University. They have three Boykin Spaniel dogs, and spend their free time boating, reading, and relaxing on Lake Martin or at the Montgomery County Club. She enjoys teaching Pure Barre, playing tennis and traveling to visit family. Lauren is originally from Lexington, Kentucky, met Tom while working in Washington, DC, and they have lived in Midtown since 1996.

We sought comment from Tom Layfield regarding his activities at Ashley Madison, but he has not responded to our queries.

Another case of a privileged white guy who can't keep from dipping his toe in the waters.

No telling how many bribes and kickbacks are involved in the road building process in Alabama. What a rat hole.

All Layfield has to do is keep his nose clean and look good in a suit -- and he can't even manage to do that.

I'm sure an anonymous commenter will appear soon to tell us that Layfield was on Ashley Madison for 33 seconds.

Oh man, you made me spew Coke out of my nose. Who knew that Ashley Madison would have apologists and propagandists and spin doctors.

Since you also featured Lauren Layfield, did you seek comment from her as well?

legalschnauzer said...

@1:59 --

I'm going to seek comment from her, yes. Reporting on this story is ongoing, as it is on many of the Ashley Madison posts.

If Mr. Layfield doesn't want to show attention to Mrs. Layfield, I would be more than happy to take over that job.

@3:31 --

So glad to see that you are willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of mankind.

You're welcome. Always happy to do my part. Wanted to be the first to volunteer for this difficult duty.

"I'm going to seek comment from her...."

wow. you put her picture up, tagged her name with an AM search, and you haven't even sought comment from her???

What a piece of work you are.

Why are you so obsessed with other people's sex lives?

@3:47 --

I said I was going to seek comment from her. Blog posts, by definition, are supposed to be relatively brief. Many of the stories here, including the Ashley Madison, are covered over multiple posts. Many stories do not end with a single post. I said the reporting is ongoing, so what is your problem? And why are you obsessed with my blog?

BTW, why don't you cite an example of where I'm obsessed with other people's sex lives?

Why are Ashley Madison bots so bitchy? If you don't seek a comment from the wife, they bitch about that. If you do seek a comment from the wife, they bitch about that.

Bitch, bitch, bitch.

legalschnauzer said...

@4:08 --

It seems they don't have anything better to do. And they certainly can't make any legitimate defense of a sleazy outfit like AM. So, they bitch a lot. That's all they have in their quiver.

Memo to @4:47 --

You think I'm obsessed with sex? Check out Madison Avenue, and the hundreds of millions of dollars it spends to entice Americans with sexual images. As for the Ashley Madison posts, not one of them has a thing to do with sex. My reporting on it has been about high-end professionals who were stupid enough to fall for the AM con game, and a company that promotes cheating and wound up cheating its customers by not protecting their personal data. I've never reported once that anyone on the AM list actually had an affair -- as in, actually had sex. BTW, does Ashley Madison use sexual images to sell its services. Check out various images the company has used over the years. Heck, the company name plays on the male fantasy of using budding teen girls as sex objects. They didn't call it "Bertha Hildred."

You reference homosexual images . . . well, hey, I can't help it if Bill Pryor and Jeff Sessions are from Alabama. As for political affairs, you think those aren't legit news stories? If not, then check with NYT and other major papers that have reported on such affairs for years.

Glad to see you were inspired to create an image of my blog. Your obsession with me and my work is duly noted.

I will do my best to serve the needs of the membership as others have done. It is an honor to join such an elite organization…..etc., etc. Mama ain't gonna be happy !

just another executive displaying "bad judgement". Hope his wife gets tested to ensure he hasn't brought home any "gifts which keep on giving". these men truly are self absorbed jerks.

Wonder how many of the men who were named on L.S. were divorced by their wives.

Anonymous said...

e.a.f. --

That's a good question about divorces involving AM guys. I know I've run across at least a couple that were divorced already by the time I was writing about them. Not sure if that was due to AM, other issues, or a combination.

You really nail it about the important issue raised by these posts. It's about judgment. In my view, seeking an extramarital affair displays bad judgment, but to seek one by spending money with an outfit like AM is bad judgment to the nth degree.

You seem to have an awful lot of malice towards Jeff Sessions.

I'd be real careful writing statements that explicitly or implicitly call into question his heterosexuality. His public persona does not excuse you from responsible statement-making.

legalschnauzer said...

@8:28 --

I've never met Sessions, so it's not a matter of personal malice. It's simply that he is corrupt beyond belief, and I've reported multiple posts to show that. The nation now is learning about his corrupt behavior, and more information likely will be coming soon. Also, I've reported on his late night visits to Bill Pryor's Alabama apartment back in the '90s, based on statements from a major law-enforcement figure in Alabama at the time. We ran a tape-recorded copy of those statements here. Plus, other news outlets have reported on Sessions' sexuality issues.

My statements are both responsible and factual. I'd suggest you do a little homework.

Anonymous said...

What other news outlets have "reported on Sessions' sexuality issues"? Can you link those for us?

I visited my coworker late at night several times while we were working on a project together----a project that had it failed could have seen us both lose our jobs. I'm glad some sex-obsessed blogger didn't think I was gay.

legalschnauzer said...

@8:52 --

I've posted on other news reports here re: Sessions. You're welcome to look it up. Do some homework.

Anonymous said...

that's what I thought. only innuendo and little else. no links, no articles, nothing. you are a sad, sad man---with a micro-penis. do some homework; you'll see it's true.

legalschnauzer said...

@10:16 --

Apparently you have cork in your ears, in addition to the cork up your ass. I said the answer to your question was on this blog, and you only had to look it up. A hedge apple could do that, but not you. You are too lazy or stupid (or both) to look something up. And what a sense of entitlement. I've done my homework, and you want me to do yours, too. When I refuse, you get bitchy, like the little bitch that you are. I didn't need to do any homework to reach that conclusion. You made it manifestly clear. You and your AM bots are always bitching about something because you have nothing else to do. Now, that really is sad -- pathetic, too.
